Inspiring Creativity Through Celebration
| Mom 2.0 SummitLess parasitic places
Like I mentioned, AB Chao and I had a good deal of fun presenting last minute appetizer tips to the attendees of the Mom 2.0 Summit in New Orleans. Part of our presentation had appetizer photography tips.
(You might as well capture some content while you’re prepping snacks.)
Like I may have said here, I’m still working on my food photography skills.
(Thus, the illustrated site.)
But I wanted to share three quick tips I learned from AB during our presentation prep.
My photo is too dark, too harsh, too shiny. Duh.
Beautiful natural light sparkles off of her crystal and white dishes.
Too close up, no visual interest, save for a blurry Silpat.
A variety of textures and groupings makes for a more interesting photo.
Dips, spreads, cheeses. Their colors are yellow, beige and brown, not necessarily the most photogenic palette.
Adding green to the top – or choosing to focus on a more visually compelling part of the photograph – can take your photo from meh to lovely.
So next time, you hear the words, “We’re coming over now,” mine that content for your blog!
I know I’ll be working feverishly on my photo skills, and I can’t wait to see your photos.
